Get Shift Done is stabilizing basic wages and providing the critical volunteers that are feeding America’s food-insecure families.
Before COVID-19, 1 in 6 American children didn’t know where their next meal was coming from. Critical to their food security were the volunteers, nonprofits and school programs that fed them everyday. COVID-19 was a breaking point: already at-risk populations were furloughed and schools were closed. Volunteer and hunger-relief demand began to surge.
Using the same groundbreaking solutions we offer our clients, we launched GetShiftDone.org on March 14th, 2020, and within days we were on the ground connecting shift workers, restaurant industry partners, and nonprofits to deliver essential support to the hardest-hit communities — all while providing basic incomes for furloughed workers and food security for affected children and families.
Collectively, we’ve provided more than 500,000 hours of work to over 110 nonprofits, distributing 60 million meals and keeping more than 28,000 workers working in the communities they call home. We’re expanding our initiative in 12 cities across the U.S. to help heal and stabilize local communities and economies.
